Pat Lobb Toyota
McKinney, Texas

Pat Lobb Toyota is the first auto dealership in the nation to receive the LEED certification which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  Approximately 75% of the building was made from different recycled materials.  The front panels are made of 90% recycled aluminum and sidewalks are made from recycled tires.

The 8,660 gallon water cistern collects rainwater and also captures water from the air conditioners to irrigate the landscape around the dealership during the hot, Texas summers.

The living "green wall" is Japanese creeping ivy, the same ivy that is on Chicago's Wrigley Field.  The ivy helps to cool the building and reduce the electricity costs during the hot summer months.

Most of the floors, walls, and tile are made from recycled materials.

The bathrooms contain many special features.  The wall tiles are made from 17% recycled bottles and the glass accent tiles are made from 98% recycled bottles.  The mirrors are 100% lead free and the wall coverings are made from recycled nylon and other materials.  The sensor operated lights help to conserve energy along with the low-flow water supply and waterless urinals.

The bathroom accent tiles are made from recycled bottles.

The bathrooms have waterless urinals and low flow faucets which help to conserve water.

Some of the carpet is made from corn and other carpet backings in the building are made from recycled automobile windshields from wrecked cars.

The cabinets and woodwork are made from compressed wheat shafts.

As you can see, this dealership has many special features to help conserve electricity and to work as efficiently as possible.  There are many other energy saving functions at the dealership and displays of various items used in construction.  Go by and take a look for yourself!
