One group will use library books and record their learning on the handout Jobs That Help Our Community.

The kindergarten students will identify jobs and explain why people have jobs  The classroom teacher and LMS will work collaboratively during the two 30 minute research sessions. The class will be split into two groups with the LMS facilitating the learning for one group and the classroom teacher the other group on the first day of research.  The groups will then rotate the following session.

The Library Media Specialist will need to have the following resources available for kindergarten students to use for their research.

Social Studies-Student understands the importance of jobs
(K7A) Identify jobs in the home, school, and community
(K7B) Explain why people have jobs
Reading-Students generate questions and conduct research
(K12A) Identify relevant questions for inquiry such as "Why do knights wear armor?"
(K12B) Use pictures, print, and people to gather information and answer questions
(K12C) Draw conclusions from information gathered
Writing-Students use writing as a tool for learning and research
(K16A) Record and dictate questions for investigating
(K16B) Record and dictate own knowledge of a a topic in various ways such a drawing pictures, making lists, and showing connections among ideas
Technology-Uses research skills to create new knowledge
(K8B) Use electronic tools and research skills to build knowledge base regarding a topic, task, or assignment
