Introduction

You have been chosen as the team to create a movie of the Texas Revolution. As writers, directors, and producers of this movie, you will need to research four important battles of the Texas Revolution that you have been asked to include in the movie. As you go through this Web Quest, you will be guided through the research of the following battles: Battle of Gonzales, Battle of the Alamo, Goliad Massacre, and the Battle of San Jacinto.  In assigned groups, you will gather information on a specific battle, create a storyboard to plan and create a Windows Photo Story movie of your battle. You will be evaluated on the information you gather as a group and your final presentation.

Process

1.  Battle Selection
You and your teacher will decide on the battle your group will focus on from the following: Battle of Gonzales, Battle of the Alamo, Goliad Massacre, and the Battle of San Jacinto.
2. Research
You will be given a note taking guide to use with your research.  Use the Texas Revolution Links below as well as library books to guide you in your search for information about your battle.

You will use the following questions to guide your research.
*What battle are you researching?
*How would you describe the setting of the battle?
*Who were the main people on each side?  Describe their role in the battle.
*How would you articulate or explain the emotional mindset of the battle’s participants?
*What was the motive behind the battle?
*How would you summarize the events of the battle?
*Who won the battle?  What methods did they use?
*What were the results and/or consequences of the battle?

3. Design Your Movie Storyboard
You will use the information gained from your research to create a storyboard for the movie of your battle.   A storyboard visually tells the story frame by frame, similar to a comic book.  Storyboards are usually drawn in pencil. Remember that your drawings don't have to be detailed. You just want to spend a few minutes drawing each frame and writing notes about what will be said. Use very basic illustrations, stick figures, etc. to plan your movie.

4.  Create your Photo Story Movie

Click here for a Photo Story 3 Tutorial.

Your movie will be made up of digital pictures.  You may take pictures of drawings or paintings, use pictures from the Internet that are not copyrighted, dress up in characters and take pictures...use your imagination to re-create your battle!

5. Bibliography

At least 3 resources should be listed on the back of your note taking guide for the research about your battle. You should tell the title and author of resources or address of a website.
