Music Is Not For the Timid!
As a member of the Texas Choral Directors Association, Kirk Anderson, SJMS Choral Director was able to audition students from 4th, 5th, and 6th grades for a statewide elementary honor choir. Two 6th graders from SJMS, Leslie Cortes and Sydney Frodsham, were selected and will travel to San Antonio this summer to perform at the annual TCDA Convention. This is a great honor as only 160 students were chosen from the entire state! Please congratulate these girls when you see them.
Friday, April 18th the SJMS Top Choir competed at the American Classic Music Festival at the Majestic Theater in Dallas. The students were given an overall rating of a 92, which earned them a Superior rating.
They competed in the hardest division where they had to get an overall score of 90 or higher to receive a Superior rating, where the lower division only requires an 85 for the same rating. If you see these students, let them know how proud we are of them.
