The
Introduction:
The
producers of the television show The Crocodile Hunter have announced they will
be producing a new show called “Biome Hunter.”
They
are having a contest to find a new group of hosts.
For
your group to be chosen as host you must create a power point slide or some
type of visual presentation detailing why the show should focus on your biome.
Remember, you need to show that your biome and your ideas are the most
interesting so you will be chosen as the host of this exciting new show.
The Process:

You will be assigned a group with three other people as well as given a
biome. You need to find the
following information about your biome:
*Places around the world where you biome can be found.
*The landforms and places of interest in your biome.
Is it a desert? Are there mountains?
Volcanoes? Rivers? Forests?
Famous places? Etc.
*The temperature and precipitation of your biome through the year.
(Climate)
*Create a food chain that you might see in your biome.
Include at least 4 plants and/or animals in your food chain.
You may also create a food web.
*Give examples of producers and consumers that live in your biome.
*Select at least 3 animal(s) that lives in your biome and include:
·
Make a list of their adaptations that help that animal survive.
·
A picture of your animal.
·
Interesting facts about your animal.
*Select at least 2 type of plant(s) that live in your biome (especially
something that is indigenous to your biome) and include:
·
Description of your plant.
·
Special adaptations that your plant has in order for its survival.
·
A picture of the plant.
*Give us any other interesting information that you found about your
biome.
The Task:
Using the information you found about
your biome create a slide slow which includes the following slides:
*Title Slide (includes biome name,
designer’s name)
*Geographical Location slide
(tells/shows where the biome is located)
*Climate/Weather slide (temperature
and precipitation)
*Animal slide(s) (3
types of animals in the biome of interest, include a separate slide of
information about each animal)
*Plant slide(s) (2-3 types of Plants
from the biome, include a separate slide with information about each plant)
*Major Landforms slide (at least one
slide describing what the land is like in your biome)
*Location Scout (s) (Scout 2 locations
in your biome that would be interesting locations to film from, include a
separate slide on each location.)
*A slide summarizing the benefits and
drawbacks of filming in your biome. This would look good in a T chart.
