Planner Consistency
Purpose of the Planner - The planner is to be used as an effective communication tool between the student, teacher, and parents.
To be Useful - Students must write the necessary information into their planner, and parents and teachers must hold our students accountable. The parents can gain valuable access to due dates, upcoming projects and tests as well as reminders on happenings at Faubion if the planner is used effectively.
Included in Planner - ALL planners should include a minimum of the skill learned in each core class daily, homework and test deadlines, and reminders for the week. The weekly planner is divided into 5 days, 4 main sections for each core class daily.
Grading - The ELAR teacher in all classes will give a daily grade sporadically. This will be no less than 2 times and no more than 3 times per nine-week period. In order for consistency, the grade will be comprised of 5 points per block for a total of 100 points. This is 5 points a day for reading, math, science, and social studies. The 4 blocks, 5 days a week account for a total of 100.
When Checking - For the ease of the language arts teacher, the blocks will not need to be read, just glanced at. EVERY blank block is 5 points taken off of the total score of 100, or a blank day would be 20 points off. For example, if a child completes his planner in 3 core classes a day, but say, never completes it in a particular subject; maximally the child can only earn a 75.
The parent signature is worth 10 bonus points on all planners.
