MESSAGE BOARD

DR. URIBE, PRINCIPAL

McKinney ISD exists to provide an excellent education for all.

Dear Faubion Supporters,

We love your children and are working hard to give them the best education in McKinney, Texas. Thank you for supporting your children throughout the year. Parents play a vital role in a child's success.

Dr. Stella Uribe

Principal

Great News!!! Faubion has just been recognized as a Texas Business Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll School. The TBEC Honor Roll is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas. It recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. Faubion Middle School has received this award for three consecutive years.

News!!!!

We have changed drop off and pick up procedures. If we all follow these procedures, we should be able to get students into class quickly in the mornings and get students off campus in the afternoon in about 8 minutes.

Please do not park along the fire lanes and do not drop off student along the fire lanes outside the circle drive.

The circle drive will be open in the morning as well as in the afternoon for dropping off and picking up students.

This should move the lines quickly if you pull all the way forward behind the last car.

One other needed help from  you. If you need to come into the building or get out of your car during morning or afternoon pick up, please park in the parking lots on either side of the building so our flow in the front moves quickly. Thank you for your help in these procedures. We want to ensure that all children are safe.

We appreciate your support.

Thank you,

Dr. Stella Uribe

 Duke Talent Search

Online Registrations: December 1-Deadline for January/February test dates

The Talent Search is now beginning its twenty-ninth year and is the largest program of its kind in the nation, representing participation from 6,000 junior high and middle schools in the Duke TIP 16-state region. Over 1.5 million students have completed the Talent Search since its inception in 1980. The Talent Search identifies academically talented 7th graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are identified and invited to complete either the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT Assessment college entrance examination. Duke TIP then provides the participants with comparative information concerning their academic abilities and resources for unique educational opportunities.

The goal is to assist young people with excellent mathematical or verbal aptitude. Students are provided with information about their abilities and introduced to a network of services and programs. Students are encouraged to enroll for several reasons:

Order forms can be downloaded from the FMS website.

To pursue an above-level testing experience, which will provide them with more information about their academic abilities; this information can help teachers, parents, and students plan effectively for the coming high school years;

To learn more about educational opportunities and options for the future;

To receive recognition of their outstanding achievements.

 Yearbooks
 Ordering Information

Steps for ordering/finalizing your order for yearbooks:
  1. You can order online at jostensyearbooks.com. It asks for an account number. The account number is on the invoice the students receive through the mail from Josten's.
  2. If the student did not order at school (filling out the form) and did not receive an invoice in the mail, you can click on PLACE NEW ORDER on the website. This will allow you to buy a book without ever having filled out the order form or if for some reason you don't have your account number.
  3. You can can also call Jostens at 1-866-282-1516. An operator can look up the account number and you can create a new order, pay with a credit card, etc.

Reminder: Ordering the yearbook is the first step. Yearbooks must be paid for by the final deadline (usually in January--Josten's sets the final deadline). If you order a yearbook but do not pay for it by the deadline, you will NOT have a yearbook in May when they come in. No payment= no book.

Thanks for ordering a 2009 Faubion yearbook!!

 Nurse's Notes
 Health Screenings

Health screenings are well underway at Faubion. Some of you may have already received referral letters requesting that you take your student to a physician to further evaluate the results of the vision, hearing, scoliosis, and/or acanthosis nigricans screenings. Reports to the state, which are required next spring, must reflect whether your child received appropriate follow-up evaluations with a qualified physician.

If you received a referral letter, please send the school nurse a copy of the doctor's statement concerning the findings of the examination. Please inform the school nurse if your child has gotten glasses, contacts, hearing aids, or treatment for scoliosis. If you have not yet taken your child for the recommended examination or treatment, please do so as soon as possible, then update the school nurse.

If you need financial assistance in meeting your child's healthcare needs, call the school clinic at 469- 742-6914.

In the event that a student is in possession of a cell phone during the testing event the device will be activated and accessed to determine if a violation of test security occurred.  According to the MISD Student Code of Conduct cheating will not be condoned or tolerated.  Therefore, students who cheat will be subject to the consequences identified in the MISD Student Code of Conduct.
