Text Box: Policies and Procedures
Text Box: Coming to the library:
All students wishing to visit the library before school and during school hours must have a pass from a teacher. A pass is not needed to use the library after school.

Checking Out Materials:
· Students and parents are allowed to have up to five items checked out
· Staff members have unlimited checkouts
· Students must show their student ID card to check out items
· Books may be checked out for 10 school days
· Magazines may be checked out for five school days
· Patrons who owe 50 cents or more in fines or who have an overdue book may not check out any new items unless their teacher contacts the library and makes a special request.

Checking In Items:
· Patrons are responsible for scanning in their own items and placing them in the drop box.
· Audio books should be scanned in and handed to the library assistant

Renewals:
· Items may be renewed one time for an additional 14 days
· Renewing an overdue item does not cancel the fines incurred while the item was overdue

Lost and Damaged Items:
· Once an item has been checked out to a patron it is his or her complete responsibility until it has been properly returned to the library media center
· If an item is lost or significantly damaged while checked out, the patron is responsible for paying the replacement cost.
· Items are considered lost if they have been overdue for more than 60 days
· Any Item not returned by the end of the school year will be replaced and the patron who checked it out will be responsible for the replacement cost
·  When a book is lost or damaged it is not acceptable for the patron to purchase a replacement from a store. Books in our collection are specially  bound so that they will withstand heavy circulation rates. They include bar codes and special labeling. The only acceptable replacement for lost or damaged books will be complete reimbursement of the replacement costs.

Note: Significant damage includes but is not limited to water damage, marks through words, holes or gouges in the cover, a torn spine, missing pages, and writing/drawing on pages.

Fines:
· Five cents per day per item is charged on all overdue materials
· The maximum overdue fine on any item is two dollars
· If the total of fines is 50 cents or greater, the patron will be limited to one AR book checked out at a time
