New School Hours - 2008-2009
The
Texas State Legislature passed a law that requires all middle school
students to participate in physical education classes beginning with
the 2008-2009 school year. As a result of this new law, McKinney ISD
had to add 30 minutes of instruction time to middle school
curriculum.
On
Monday, March 24, the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved new
school hours for all grade levels at their regular monthly board
meeting. The new hours are as follows:
All Middle School Students - 7:45 a.m. - 3 p.m.
All Elementary School Students - 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
McKinney Boyd High School - 9:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
McKinney High School - 9:15 a.m. - 4:20 p.m.
McKinney North High School - 9:15 a.m. - 4:20 p.m.
Note:
Club 360° will provide morning care from 7 a.m. until the start of
school at elementary schools and after school care until 6:30 p.m.
for both elementary and middle school students. Elementary students
not enrolled in the Club 360° morning care program will be allowed
into the school at 8 a.m. Elementary students should not arrive at
their school
before 8 a.m.
Middle School Students:
The additional minutes needed to meet the State's Physical
Fitness requirements were added to the end of the school day for all
middle school students.
Elementary School Students:
Elementary school students will start school 15 minutes later
than their current start time and will end school 15 minutes later.
This adjustment was done to accommodate bus schedules that were
affected with the new middle school hours.
McKinney Boyd High School Students
High school students that attend McKinney Boyd High School will
begin school 15 minutes later than currently scheduled and conclude
school at 4:30 p.m. Additional time was placed between each class
period to allow students more time to move from one classroom to
another classroom. This additional time between classes added
additional time to the school hours at McKinney Boyd High School.
McKinney High School Students
High school students at McKinney High School will begin school
15 minutes later than currently scheduled and conclude school at
4:20 p.m.
McKinney North High School Students
High school students at McKinney North High School will begin
school 15 minutes later than currently scheduled and conclude school
at 4:20 p.m.
